Colt is a sweet mini aussie that came to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility.

He was pretty shut down when he first arrived to rescue but thanks to lots of TLC from his foster mom and dad, he has made significant progress. Colt is still a bit nervous when meeting new people and just needs a little extra time to warm up. Colt loves being with other dogs and they help boost his confidence significantly.

Colt has been working hard on his housetraining and doing well. He will need continued consistency in his new home.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard - Colt is a breeder release dog and not familiar with or used to wearing a harness and walking on a leash. He also spooks easily and is a flight risk.
  • Confident resident dog to continue to help Colt build confidence and learn how to "dog".
  • Due to his size, Colt would do best in a home with older, dog-savvy kids only.

Colt has been neutered and received a dental cleaning while in rescue (he will likely need regular dental cleanings throughout his life). He is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $600 plus tax.

More about Colt

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
