Ellie is a beautiful little cavalier - she made her way to SFCR after being released/retired from a commercial breeding operation.

We learned quickly that Ellie has some pretty significant separation anxiety and can only tolerate being crated for very short periods of time. She does best gated in a certain area of the house with the option to go into a crate as she pleases. She feels safe and comfortable in her crate and will go in there on her own - as long as the door stays open.

Ellie will need to go to a home where someone is home often. A retired or work from home situation would be ideal for sweet little Ellie.

Ellie is doing pretty well with housetraining as long as she is kept on a consistent schedule and taken out frequently.

She loves her food, treats, and is even starting to play with toys a bit. She is a very, very sweet little dog and is sure to melt your heart.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard.
  • Confident, similar sized resident dog preferred.
  • Ellie needs someone home with her as much as possible - she cannot be left alone for the standard 8 hour work day due to her separation anxiety.

Ellie has been spayed and had a dental with multiple extractions. She is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.

More about Ellie

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Likes to play with toys, Timid, Affectionate, Gentle

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
