Elizabeth (Lizzie) is a 5 ½ year old chocolate colored cocker spaniel.

Lizzie is a cheerful, inquisitive, loyal, and sensitive cuddle bug. She loves following her foster mom and dad around the house and definitely enjoys affection. Lizzie had kind of a rough beginning to life but is very resilient despite the rough start. She has learned how to go up steps and is slowly mastering going down them. She lives in a house with both a male and female dog and gets along beautifully with them as well as with the two resident cats. She responds well to respectful children and has a playful side to her. Her foster mom and dad consider Lizzie to be a very low maintenance dog. While she is not 100 percent housetrained, she is making great strides. Lizzie is crate trained and has been keeping her crate clean. Her foster family said that they have left her unattended with full rein of the house for a few hours at a time and she does fine.

Lizzie was recently spayed and had a dental cleaning done. After having two teeth extracted, she is feeling and eating much better. She is fully vaccinated and would love to find her forever home. This endearing dog has a lot of living left to do and lots of love to give. If a watch dog is what you want, she is definitely NOT that, but you will have to look hard to find a dog with a sweeter, gentler disposition than Lizzie.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep Lizzie safe when outside.
  • Resident dog preferred.

Lizzie weighs 18 pounds, her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.

More about Elizabeth (Lizzie)

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Cratetrained, Eager To Please, Gentle

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
