Australian Shepherd : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
Diamond lives up to her name. She is a gem! This approximately four-year old miniature Australian Shepherd is house trained; knows commands such as “sit” and “give me five;” likes being inside and outside equally; will walk on a leash; gets along with other dogs, cats, and chickens; likes children; loves belly scratches; is very affectionate to her foster mom and dad; is comfortable in public and did well at a parade with loud noises and crowds; and loves being along side her foster mom or walking around outside with her foster dad as he works on their acreage. She adores closeness and attention. Her temperament is mild and loving. She is crate trained and has not had any accidents at her foster home and is trusted to roam the house by herself. Diamond is working on “down” when she greets people instead of jumping up for pets. Her goal is to sit first and then receive petting and loving. She also enjoys dog treat puzzles and is learning to play ball. Diamond would do well in any home that has plenty of time to give her attention throughout the day and build her confidence as their forever dog. Her family will get more love back than they can ever give. Like any good gemstone, Diamond is one of a kind.

More about DiamondGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Affectionate, Eager To Please, Intelligent *All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. |
