**Ivy will be available after she has recovered from her spay/dental surgery scheduled the week of 9/26/2022** Ivy is a gorgeous 6 year old golden retriever who made her way to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility. Ivy arrived to rescue extremely shut down and terrified of the world (and people) around her. She has made good progress while in foster care but has a ways to go and will require a very patient (and calm) family willing to give her the time she needs. Ivy is terrified of being placed on a leash - she has been working on desensitization but it will be a very slow and delicate process - a physically fenced in yard is a hard adoption requirement. Ivy also has immature cataracts in her eyes and will likely be seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist for a consult. Ivy is crate trained and views her crate as a very safe and comfortable space.
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:
Ivy has been spayed and received a dental cleaning, tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax. More about IvyGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only *All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped. Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly. |
