Elsie is a charming little havanese girl who made her way to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility. She has done so well in foster care and has really come out of her shell. Elsie loves attention and being by her foster mom's side.

Elsie is crate trained and working hard on her housetraining - she will need continued consistency but is doing well.

Elsie loves the other dogs in her foster home and would love to go to a home with a similar sized resident dog.

 

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard - Elsie is a breeder release dog and is not familiar with or comfortable walking on a harness/leash. She is also a flight risk and requires a physical fence for her safety.
  • Similar sized resident dog preferred.
  • Due to Elsie's small size, she would do best in a home with older, dog savvy kids only (ages 8 & up).

Elsie is spayed and received a dental cleaning while in rescue, tested negative for heartworm & tick borne diseases, is current on vaccinations and monthly preventatives, and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500 plus tax.

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
