Cleo is a little American Eskimo that came to SFCR after being released from a commercial breeding facility.

Cleo takes a little bit to warm up to new people but wants so badly to be loved by all. She will need a patient family willing to give her the time she needs to adjust and acclimate. Cleo is a very sweet little dog who has lived a hard life but is really enjoying what her new life has to offer.

Cleo has learned how to go up and down stairs, walk through doors, and is doing well with her housetraining. She is crate trained and is used to sleeping in a crate at night although it is not her preference. She loves to be with her foster mom as much as possible and would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. Cleo seems to warm up to women a bit easier and quicker than men.

 

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically fenced in yard to keep her safe when outdoors (Cleo is a breeder release dog and is not used to wearing a collar or harness and walking on a leash yet)
  • Due to her timid and skittish nature, Cleo needs a home with older and respectful, dog savvy kids only (ages 12 and up)
  • Confident resident dog preferred

Cleo has been spayed and received a dental cleaning while in rescue, tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne diseases, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400 plus tax.

*All SFCR dogs are current on age-appropriate vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella, and lepto), spayed/neutered (if at least 6 months of age), tested for heartworm & tick-borne disease, receive dentals if needed, are started on preventatives for heartworm and fleas/ticks, and microchipped.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have received limited socialization, so they may need extra time to adjust and settle in. Older children are often a great fit for our dogs, and family's with younger children will be considered based on each dog's individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may require a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of our dogs adapt quite quickly.
